Robert Spitler Obituary

Robert K. Spitler
Age 82, died Sunday in his home after a courageous five
year battle with cancer.
He was a member of First Baptist Church and an active member of the Christian Homebuilders class. As an active member of the church, he served on the committee that built the new church located on 38th St. in Canton, Ohio.
After graduating from Lehman High School, Class of 1945, he enlisted in the Navy serving as a gunner and photographer while stationed in the Aleutian Islands during World War II.
In 1951, he graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in Business Administration. Bob was employed by Republic Steel for 30 years having spent four years living in Africa as a purchasing agent in the Liberia Mining Company. He later became the first Director of Administration at Black, McCuskey, Souers, & Arbaugh LPA in Canton, Ohio until retirement.
Upon retiring, he spent many hours being a proud grandparent of athletic and musically talented grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his beloved parents, Kenneth and Virginia Hanley Spitler.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Shirley (Neel) Spitler. They would have celebrated their 60 years of marriage in June. He is also survived by his sister, Virginia (Frank) Peterson, sons: Mark and Kurt (Victoria), daughters, Jill and Bobbi; grandchildren: Matthew, Megan, Sydney, and Kurt Jr.; sister-in-law, Corky Hutcheson and a host of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church, 4110 38th St., N.W Canton, Ohio 44718. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, Aultman Hospice, or the Salvation Army.
