Ruth Kellogg Obituary
Kellogg
88, of Minerva, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012 at Great Trail Care Center surrounded by her family. Ruth was born in Irondale, Ohio on Dec. 5, 1923, a daughter of the late Bessie (Crowe) Murphy and Harvey Grafton. Ruth was a graduate of Irondale High School. She was a member of Minerva United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women holding many offices over the years. She was a member of the Don V. Cross American Legion Post 357 Auxiliary where she served on the selection committee for Buckeye Girls State. Ruth also was active with the Minerva Community Meals Program. She worked at Minerva Wax Paper for 31 years retiring in 1989.
Ruth is survived by a daughter, Karen (Thomas) Nolan, of Canton; three sons, Gary (Lynne) Kellogg, of Atlanta, Ga.; Robert (Jackie) Kellogg, of Palm City, Fla.; Bruce (Linda) Kellogg, of Malvern; a step son, David (Cecilia) Kellogg, of New Galilee, Pa.; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifford in 1966; step father, Charles Murphy; two infant sons; a daughter, Brenda Dean; two brothers, Robert J. Grafton, Charles Murphy; two sisters, Dorothy Dearth and Pauline Murphy.
Funeral Services will be held at the Minerva United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012 with Rev. Dale Thomas officiating. Calling hours will be held Sunday 6 - 8 p.m. at the Minerva United Methodist Church. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Minerva United Methodist Church, 204 N. Main St. Minerva, OH 44657. Friends may express condolences at our website: www.bartleyfuneralhome.com.

My deepest sympathies to the Kellogg family during this difficult time as they grieve the loss of this loved one. While, I did not know Mrs. Kellogg personally, I can tell you that her compassion, work ethic and dedication to family and community shone through in the same qualities she instilled in her family. I had the privilege of working for one of her sons, Mr. Robert Kellogg, for a short time and he always spoke highly of his mother and that carried over in his daily life as I personally witnessed his compassion for others especially those less fortunate. His work ethic is impeccable and he gives back to his community quietly without any expected pomp and circumstance and his family means more to him than his own welfare. Passing on such a goodly heritage is to be commended and those qualities will live on through Robert and her other children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, etc. for generations to come.
