Ruth Kirkby Obituary

Ruth H. Kirkby
Ruth H. Kirkby, age 76, of North Canton, died Friday, October 27, 2006 in Windsor Medical Center following a courageous battle with Lou Gehrig's disease. Born in Cleveland, OH, Ruth had been an area resident since 1956. She was an LPN at Doctor's Hospital for 17 years. Ruth was a Collinwood High School graduate Class of 1947 and then went to the Cleveland School of Art, becoming an accomplished china painter. Member of Community Christian Church in North Canton, where she sang in the choir. In addition to her parents, the late Arland and Helen Walter, she was also preceded in death by her son, James A. Kirkby, August 23, 1981. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, David L. Kirkby of the residence; two sons and daughters-in-law, David L. (Brenda) Kirkby of St. Charles, IL and Jeffrey H. (Debra) Kirkby of Lakewood, OH; four grandchildren: Jeanette L. Kirkby, David E. Kirkby, Melissa e. Kirkby and James A. Kirkby; two brothers-in-law, Theodore B. (Wendy) Kirkby and Gerald M. Kirkby; sister-in-law, Nina Jean Rhoades; and several close nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Monday 7:30 p.m. at Community Christian Church in North Canton with Rev. Donald G. Baird officiating. Friends may call Sunday (TODAY) from 2-5 p.m. at Spiker- Foster -SHRIVER Funeral Home, 4817 Cleveland Ave. NW, and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church (6:30-7:30 p.m.). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: A.L.S. Care Project for Lou Gehrig's Disease, 6677 Frank Ave. NW, North Canton, OH 44720
