Shawn Dixon Obituary
Scott has proven to be as giving in death as he was in life by donating his organs to LifeBank. Over 100 lives will be changed by his decision to donate his organs, including three babies whose lives were saved. Friends and family can be received at 935 Shadyside Ave. S.W. and 2703 5th St. N.W. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 12:00 Noon at Deliverance Christian Church, 2130 31st Street N.W., where Rev. C.B. Fields will be eulogizing. Visitation from 11 a.m. until time of service. Interment in Forest Hill Cemetery.

God has blessed me with the best brother that I've ever seen. To this day I still can't believe that you are gone from this earth, But I do know that I will see you again one day. Until I do, I promise that I will do everything you told me. I AM MY BROTHER'S KEEPER...and I do promise to finish everything that you have started. You were such a great influence on the family's life. You made such a great impact that I looked up to you in a way of being a father figure. You are the one who truly raised me and made me a man. Not just a man but a man who could stand proud and hold his head up boldly regardless the circumstances or situation. Now I feel that I'm all alone. I'm so use to calling you and talking about anything I wanted to. It seemed that you always knew the right thing to say. You were a counselor in my life that never steered me wrong in my life. You gave the best advices that in somedays saved my life, marriage, and even freedom. You gave me peace bro!
that is why it is so hard for me to deal with this. I'm 25 and I can count on one hand how many days we went without talking to each other. We have a bond tighter than any other when you went feel like half of me went with you. The other half of me must get stronger and live on. Live on for what you left behind. I don't even know what to say to Ray'Quan. It's hard for me to even look at him at times but like you taught me love is an action. Everything you loved you loved with a godly love even loving it more than yourself. I know how bad you wanted to be happy even to the point that you wouldn't let no one steal your joy anymore. You were also the one who tried to bring people together the way things should have been. I also know all your struggles and pain. Now you don't have to suffer any longer. Life threw me a curveballin the face, God said he wouldn't put more on us that we can bare.
Your death was the ultimate test that God could have put me through. Some days I don't think I can go on. I don't even see how you went on when you were here. Bro you consistently went non-stop for people. You always made sure mom, your kids, your sibilings, and friends were ok. You didn't have to worry about yourself because God had you every step of the way. Before you were created God knew your birth and death and I couldn't be more prouder of you in your time here. I am my brother's keeper for as long as I live... I love you BRO

Scott, how can I say 'good-bye' to you? Your 31 years here with us taught us the meaning of love, perfected. In life, an aunt could not ask for a more giving, respectful, and loving nephew. You were a wonderful son, a hard-working father, and a dedicated and loyal brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Nothing can ever fill the void you leave in our lives, and for now, the pain is almost unbearable. Scott was my favorite cousin and I know I was his favorite little cousin we shared a special bond because he played the same role in his house that I played in mine. He was the oldest and is six years older then his twin siblings and so was I. Over the years with our mothers being not only sister but best friends Scott and I were almost like brothers. Scotty D ..... We never could've imagined this and none of us know what to do. You know I loved you Scott, and I'll ALWAYS love you and NEVER forget you. I know time will ease the pain, but I'll never be the same again. Hell, I've NEVER been a tattoo person, but that's one of the ways I wanted to honor and remember you. You're the closest person I've lost so far and I can't really grasp the fact that you're gone. I'm functioning in a surreal, dream-like state. My single life goal now is to get completely right with God. Nothing else matters. I guess I have to say "rest in peace" now Cuz, although I don't want to. What I really want is to go over Jackie's or Tracy's and see you walk up to the door with that one-of-a-kind smile on your face, talkin' 'bout some, "What's up Cuz!", and givin' everybody bear hugs. Scott, My favorite cousin! You were so special to me. You always put a smile on my face each every time we met. You had one of the most warmest hugs and smiles. (insider)What is that velvet! I am going to miss you calling me Big Face! But you know what, I can hear it along with seeing each day on my arm. I met Shawn at McGregor and attended Souers with him as well. We did not attend the same high school, but we did work together at Burger King for quite some time in high school.... Those were the days before we had any "real responsibilities!" Shawn was a hard worker! Unfortunately, we have not been in touch since I left for college. Shawn was a great guy way back then and from reading the comments left, I know he was still a great guy. Thank God some things never change. My prayers go out to the whole family, I know that you miss him terribly, but we know he is in a wonderful place. I am so glad that he was able to help so many in his tragic death.
