Adele Foerter Obituary

Adele Plosia Foerter the essence of unlimited devotion passed away on October 24, 2016 at Anne Arundel Medical Center of a heart attack at the age of 87. She was the perfect mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend. She was born November 15th, 1928 in Wellington, New Jersey to the late Lester and Kathryn Plosia. Adele received her B.A. in Library Science in 1950 from New Jersey College for Women. Adele loved gardening, books, art, and all kinds of knowledge but most of all, she loved her family and friends. She could forever be counted on for thoughtful insight into everyone's problems but never complained of her own. She was our rock and we grieve the enormous hole her death leaves. Who will we call? She loved to travel and was able to visit Ireland and Poland to explore her family roots. Adele enjoyed many hours on the beautiful waters of the Chesapeake Bay and was always puttering away in her garden or fixing things, whether they be mechanical or emotional in nature. She served on the Advisory Council for the Shauna Rose Kaufman Foundation, established in memory of her granddaughter, which continues her family library legacy by delivering books, education, and disability services to under privileged children around the world. Her life was a gift to all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, Adele is preceded in death by her cherished husband, Conrad; three grandchildren, Shauna, Erik, and Justin and her brother, Jim. Adele is survived by five children, Daniel(Deborah) Foerter, Beth(Doug) Kimbler, David(Joni) Foerter, Thomas Foerter, and Amy Kaufman; 12 grandchildren, Michele, Katie, Lacey, Carrie, Jeremy, Christopher, Lilly, Michael, James, Kristel, William, and Holly, four great grandsons, Max, Conner, Charly, and Jay and her brother, Lester (Brud) Plosia. Her memory is a blessing. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Shauna Rose Kaufman Foundation, 31463 Wingate Rd., Dagsboro, DE 19939 (www.shaunarose.com). This foundation was establish after the death of Adele's granddaughter, Shauna to provide quality of life to underprivileged children and people with disabilities. Friend and family are invited to celebrate Adele's life from 11:00 am until her memorial service begins at 11:30 am on Saturday, November 5 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD.
