Celeste Shumar

1939 - 2023

Celeste Marie Shumar, 83, of LaGrange, Kentucky went to her Heavenly home on Saturday, March 18, 2023. She was born to the late Alfonse and Guyula Paquin on July 12, 1939 in Washington D.C. Celeste was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She enjoyed bowling, taking neighborhood walks and participating in dancing competitions as a young woman and dancing with her daughter at the Susan Ina Dance Studio in Maryland as she got older. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister; Jackie Sevachko and brothers; Gene Paquin and Joe Paquin. Left to cherish the memory of Celeste are her husband of 59 years; Jim Shumar, children; Bill Shumar (Josie) and Joyce DiLonardo (Marc), grandchildren; Jon (Monique), Angelo, Chelsea (Ben), Nick, Christen, Cassie, and Stephen, great-grandchildren; Beckham, Morgan and Ainslee, sister; Charlotte Hammond, extended family and friends. A Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in LaGrange, Kentucky on Wednesday, March 22 at 11:00 AM. There will be a gathering prior to the Mass at 10:00 AM at the Church. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in Celeste's name.
