David Stringfellow Obituary

David Glenn Stringfellow, 65, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 25 at his home in Granbury, Texas. Born in Springfield, IL to Carlton "Bud" and Joellen Stringfellow, Dave grew up in Severna Park, MD, and graduated from Severna Park High School in 1977. He graduated from DePauw University in 1981, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, with degrees in Political Science and Economics. Dave went on to work for the Gallo Winery in Modesto, CA. His work brought him to San Antonio, TX where he met his wife Denise Smith Stringfellow, whom he married on August 2, 1986. Dave and Denise had two children, Laura Victoria (37) and Gregory David (30). Dave was a dedicated husband, father, and a friend to everyone that he met. He was very involved in the Boy Scouts of America where he served as an Assistant Scoutmaster for the Troop. He also loved to be involved in both of his children's activities, which included sports and marching band. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending time in nature, whether that be hiking, camping, or just cruising out on Lake Granbury on the pontoon boat. Dave also got so much joy out of his career as a liquor distributor and salesman that he started his own company, Beacon Beverage Imports, in 2008. He loved educating everybody that he encountered on all the different brands he represented. Anyone who came over had the privilege to sit around the fire and listen to Dave tell stories about his work, family, or watch a Redskins or O's game. He loved to sit in his rocking chair and enjoy the "Golden Hour" sunset on the lake; it was always his favorite time of day. Dave is preceded in death by his mother, Joellen Stringfellow and his son Daniel Stringfellow. He is survived by his father, Bud Stringfellow; his beloved wife, Denise; his two children Laura and Greg; and his siblings and their spouses, John and Amy (Sherrill) Stringfellow and Peter and Susan (Stringfellow) Ainsworth. There will be a celebration of life for Dave at a later date. In the meantime, please raise a drink of your choice and enjoy the sunset from wherever you are, just like he would have done.

March 25, 2025

Sorry to hear of Dave´s passing. We shared many classes and lunches together. Always one of the smarter ones in class and one of the hardest working on the football field. While I never got to see Dave after graduation I have thought of him often. There is a road nearby where I live named Stringfellow road and I think of Dave every time I pass by. Didn´t know he worked for Gallo, my aunt worked there for most of her entire career. Wish I had known. My prayers to the Stringfellow family.
