Gladys Ruth Wist

Gladys Ruth Wist, of Bowie and Gambrills, Maryland, passed away on Friday, June 4, 2021 at Heartfields Assisted Living in Bowie, Maryland. Gladys was born on February 15, 1926 in Greeneville, Tennessee and she attended Greeneville High School. Gladys worked at the Bowie Race Track, Pigeon House and Rips, and after moving to Bowie, she became a child care provider and a life time home maker. She was a member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Crownsville, Maryland. Her main interests were her grandchildren, her poodle Tassie, eating crabs, dancing, visiting with neighbors, and gardening. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, John Herbert Wist; and her brother, Junior Marshall; and a sister, Thelma Meyer. She is survived by her children: Vivian Hall (Lee), Denise Wist (Stan), Joy Thorpe (Steve), Beverly Tedder (Joal), Gary Wist and Royce Wist (Catina). Gladys is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. The Wist family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie, Maryland 20715. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 1110 St. Stephen's Church Road, Crownsville, MD 21032. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
