John O'Connor Obituary

John (Jack) Thomas O'Connor, beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 29 in Easton, MD, at the age of 94. Predeceased by his beloved wife Barbara, his son Daniel, and his sister Kathleen, he is survived by his children Michael (Sally), Stephen, Mary (James-deceased), Kathryn (Michael), and Margaret (Kevin), thirteen grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by several nephews and nieces. Born to Thomas and Anna O'Connor on April 23, 1930, in Bloomer, Wisconsin, Jack met Barbara Jean Lindstrom at McDonell High School in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, marrying in 1953, before moving to the Washington D.C. area to start a family. Shortly thereafter he earned his BA in Government from the University of Maryland. As a late 20th-century adventurer, Jack spent time in the Department of the Army in counter-intelligence, at NASA on the Apollo Project, at the Social Security Administration modernizing its data processing capabilities, along with many forays into other ventures, including the telecommunications, space, and defense industries. These ventures took him and his family from the East Coast to California, and back again to the East Coast, allowing for rich and rewarding experiences for the entire family. He later started his own consulting company assisting others in growing their government business. Jack was an avid Packers, Orioles, and Maryland fan, and loved to organize fishing trips whenever he had the chance. As much as he enjoyed working, which he did into his 80's, it was his family, especially his cherished girlfriend-for-life, that gave his life meaning and inspiration. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Christophers Catholic Church, 1861 Harbor Drive, Chester, MD. 21619, on Wednesday, July17, at 10:30 am.
