M. Gordon Mann

Mann, Malcolm "Gordon" of Anne Arundel County, originally from Doncaster, England, passed away March 21, 2021 at age 85. He was born on August 10, 1935 to Evelyn Wilford and John E. Mann. He immigrated to the United States with his parents in 1952 on the Queen Mary. Gordon later enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1955, serving until 1959. Gordon took over the family service station business, "Severna Park Shell", in Severna Park, MD in 1966. He successfully grew the business to multiple service stations until he retired and sold the business in 1998. He enjoyed life with his wife Jonnie as an active boater, snow skier as well as traveling and road trips, with occasional run-ins into snow banks, in fact several times. Gordon enjoyed camping, however mishaps seemed to follow him on many of these trips. Even in his advanced age, he enjoyed golfing, kayaking, gardening and according to his family was a master griller. He was also an avid reader and U.S. history enthusiast. Gordon was an active member of the Kiwanis Club in Severna Park and La Plata, Maryland for 40 years. He was adventurous and was always the first one down a slip and slide with his grandkids, or just 2 years ago zip-lining with the family. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents John and Evelyn Mann, 1st wife Darlene Reedy and son John G. Mann. Survived by his wife of 52 years, Jonnetta "Jonnie" I. Mann, son James "Jim" R. Mann (Karen); daughters Penny S. Tucker (Garrett), and Janet M. Johnson (Tony). Grandchildren John, Jessica, Brittany, Michael, Kathyrne "Katie", Hannah, Sarah, Griffin, Marcus & Victoria and great-grandchildren. Gordon's wishes were that no formal service be held. Instead, a private family gathering will be held. In lieu of flowers, he wished donations be sent to a charity of your choice or any civic association.
