Magdalene Pantelides Obituary

Magdalene "Margie" Pantelides, 91, died Aug. 7, 2009 surrounded by her family.

She was born in New York City, N.Y.

Her life was a celebration of the love she gave to all she met and touched. With her husband, Savvas, an immigrant from Yialousa, Cyprus, the couple worked with a dedicated crew at the famous Royal Restaurant on West Street in Annapolis, which they owned and operated for over 30 years, and graduated all six of their children from college.

Margie most enjoyed gathering her large family, joyfully entertaining a host of relatives and friends, and selflessly volunteering for her church and the AAMC Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Savvas Pantelides.

She is survived by six children, John Pantelides, Nicos Pantelides, Anastasia Samaras, Andre Pantelides, Irene Meehan and Alexandra Pantelides; one sister, Mary Bauman; and two brothers, Gregory Comsudis and Thomas Comsudes. She was also the cherished "Yiayia" of 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Friends are invited to Margie's Life Celebration from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10 and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ss. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 2747 Riva Road, Annapolis, MD 21401. Interment in St. Demetrios Greek Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Association, 27001 Agoura Road #250, Calabasas Hills, CA 91301 (www.alsa.org) or the Philoptokos Society, Ss. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church of Annapolis at the address above.
