Michael Peddicord Obituary
Michael Osborne "Mike" Peddicord, 62, of Harwood, died November 10 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. A graduate of Southern High School, Salisbury State College and Bowie University, Mike was a teacher at Crofton Woods Elementary School for 39 years where he had a vested interest in the lives of his students. He also ran the family farm in Harwood. Mike was a longtime member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and recently had been attending Belcroft Bible Church in Bowie. He enjoyed reading, traveling, history and was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins and Washington Nationals. He is survived by his wife, Anita, son Ben and his wife Tara, and daughter Tori. A celebration of Mike's life will be held on Sunday, November 16 at 2:00 PM at Chesapeake Christian Fellowship, 377 W. Central Avenue, Davidsonville, MD 21035. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mike's name may be made to Seneca High Adventure Christian Camp, 4460 Solomons Island Road, Harwood, MD 20776 or Camp Wabanna, 101 Likes Road, Edgewater, MD 21037.

So sorry to hear this. I was a student of his at Crofton Woods in 1976-77. It was my last year there and his first. I have nothing but fond memories of him. Best wishes to his family and friends.

Mr. Peddicord taught two out of our three children at Crofton woods and recently I had the honor of being a grand parental mentor to one of his students. He was tirelessly always working for the students. What a legacy.

My son who is 26 now and my daughter who is 13 both had Mr. Peddicord while they attended Crofton Woods. He touched both their lives with his kind and unique personality. Melissa was especially fond of his stories and would come home and tell me about them. I came to look forward to asking her if she had any new Mr. Peddicord stories. My daughter was truly moved by him and I believe he was a touch of a Grandpa in a family that doesn't have one. She has a wooden pencil holder he made on her desk and cherishes it as a fond memory of his class. I also am a teacher in an elementary school and was inspired by his example.

I was so very saddened to hear about Michael's passing! Michael and I grew up together in Harwood. Our families were always together in some way or another throughout the years!! Anita, Tori, Ben & family, he will be greatly missed. He is walking those streets of gold and has been reunited with his loved ones that have gone on before him. Michael, we shall meet again on the riverbanks that flow passed Heavens shores!!!! Praying continually for your family!

Mr. Peddicord was my 2nd grade teacher in 1982. I won the esteemed prize of the tape ball that year. Even though I moved away the following year for a time, he saved my time capsule entry for me for when I returned. I always appreciated what a kind and gentle person he was. Praying for his family during this difficult time - I can only imagine how much is he missed.

My Dad worked with Mr. Peddicord at Crofton Woods Elementary School for years, probably 20+ and my son graduated with Tori from SHS and they also ran track together. Our Dad always talked about Mr. Peddicord and how he enjoyed working with him at Crofton. He will be missed and my wish is that God will continue to bless the family.
