I had the honor of working with Nancy when we were both at Central Elementary School in Edgewater, Maryland in the late 1970s. I served as school psychologist and Nancy was a special education teacher while providing oversight to all programs for children with disabilities. This was my first professional position; Nancy was an extraordinary co-worker and inspirational mentor. She helped me translate the theories that I had learned in graduate school to real-world real-life service. Nancy always did whatever was needed to assist children and engage families. There were many times when she stayed at school at night when working parents were unable to take time off to meet during the day. She always demonstrate compassion and offered practical advice in difficult situations. Nancy provided me with the gift of insight. She was a great lady.
