Nicholas Anthony Cuccarese

Nicholas Anthony Cuccarese passed away Saturday, December 11th after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; son Jon (Shay); granddaughter Navy; niece Bernadette Duncan (Tom Belton); nephew James (Natalya) Duncan; nephew Henry (Luanne) Duncan; beloved family through marriage, Walter (Janet) Nowicki. Nicholas shared a special bond with his nieces and nephews becoming a beloved Grandfather figure to their own children. Daniel & Laura Belton, Charlotte & Trevor Duncan, Robert & Michael Nowicki, Mary James & Alexandra Duncan will never forget Nick's big heart. A wonderful husband of 54 years, father, grandfather, mentor, friend, will be greatly missed by all. Born 1940 in Union City, NJ to Nick and Mafalda Cuccarese. After marrying, Barbara and Nick moved to Brick, NJ. Nick worked as a teacher in Toms River, NJ. He was deeply involved as an educator and well loved. Outside of school, Nick worked in sports. He was a life member of the Shore Umpires Assn. and NJ Football Officials Association. As the the cadet supervisor of 15+ years he helped train/mentor countless football officials. Nick was deeply involved in his son's life and education, especially sports. Coaching baseball and basketball teams from 10 years to high school. Nick was a great support, showing kindness to all, with a positive outlook on life. There will be a Celebration of Life in NJ this spring.
