Patrick Weiland Obituary

Patrick Xavier Weiland, 60, a resident of Annapolis, died peacefully January 9, at his home after a five-month illness with brain cancer. Pat was born March 14, 1953 in Leonardtown to the late Francis J. Weiland and Mary Gertrude Weiland. Pat was a graduate of Ryken High School in Leonardtown, and Towson State University where he received his bachelor's and master's degrees in psychology and special education. He was a school psychologist with the Prince George's County Public School System for 30 years, where he was employed the last 18 years at Bowie High School. In addition, Pat served as a volunteer at The Anne Arundel Medical Center Joint Clinic in Annapolis, and was active in the Pets on Wheels Program. He especially enjoyed time with his dear pets, Angus and Zeus. He was preceded in death by his sister, Frances Goldsborough. Pat is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Judith A. Weiland; two sisters, Katherine Anderson and Mary Gertrude Hayden; and four brothers, Joseph Weiland, Mark Weiland, Allan Weiland and Lawrence Weiland. Pat is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews, and many relatives, friends and colleagues. A celebration of Pat's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Bowie High School of Bowie, MD; St. Mary's Ryken of Leonardtown, MD; or SPCA of Anne Arundel County.

Grew up with Pat and Mark in Leonardtown. Pat was a role model to many of us growing up down there. We both relocated to Annapolis years later. Thinking of July and all the Weilands.
