Paul Mark Carroll of
Easton, Maryland died on Sunday, January 5th, 2025. Paul, the first of three children, was born in Boston, Massachusetts on May 14, 1939 (Mother's Day) to Margaret Mary Hurley and Patrick Joseph Carroll. He attended Parish Schools and the regional Matignon High School where he enjoyed being a four-year varsity player, Captain of the football team and a class officer. Paul, true to his indominable spirit, worked his way through Boston College, graduating with an AB degree in English Literature and related fields in Classic Language and Finance. He was drafted into the US Army and served in the Army Security agency. As Paul completed his Military Service, he met Susan Kelley and the rest is history. Paul and Susan married on April 18, 1964, he accepted a position with Chrysler Motors Corporation, and he and Susan relocated to Vermont. Two darling sons were born there. Soon he transferred his employment to Eastman Kodak and relocated to Pennsylvania. Their third son was born here, The Carroll family moved to several other towns in Pennsylvania and then settled in
Annapolis, Maryland, where they remained for 30 years, Paul not willing to relocate his family again. His career with Eastman Kodak involved working with the Federal Government and serving as Business Development Manager. The boys thrived in the Annapolis area, making many lifelong friends, and excelling in academics and athletics. Paul became their first coach as they enjoyed sports as young boys. Later, as they played sports in both high school and college, he became their biggest fan. In retirement Paul and Susan relocated to
Easton, Maryland. As the years continued, Paul became a founding and charter member of the Institute of Adult Learning at Chesapeake College. As a Docent at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum for more than 20 years, Paul studied the history of "The Bay," was an original member of the Tuesday CBMM Study Group and was a favorite Tour Leader with CBMM visitors. Continuing with his love of learning, Paul facilitated classes at the Academy of Lifelong Learning. Much as Paul was a fan of his sons' athletic and academic pursuits, he was also a fan for his grandchildren's activities, both athletic and academic. To his beloved grandchildren he was Grampy, King of pizza, pancakes and funny stories and songs. As evidenced by his presence in their lives, Paul's greatest love was his family. This is his greatest legacy. Paul was predeceased by his parents, Peg and Joe Carroll and his brother, Joe Carroll.
