Robert Luebkert Obituary

May 10, 1936 - January 17, 2021 On January 17, 2021, Robert Lee Luebkert of Crofton, MD passed unexpectedly after short illness. Bob was born in Washington, DC, the eldest son of Malcolm and Chantal (Brew) Luebkert He was raised in the Brookland section of DC and in Cheverly, MD. He spent childhood summers on the South River at Woodland Beach, MD swimming, exploring, catching and eating crabs and rockfish. Bob graduated from Gonzaga High School and from Maryland University where he was a member of Theta Chi fraternity. He was a loyal Terrapins fan and held season tickets for many years. He began his career at GE in the commercial department and later was self employed. Bob especially enjoyed his Cole's Point, VA getaway on the water which was the setting for many family crab feasts 'way back when'. which many of his surviving 12 nieces and nephews remember and 18 great nieces and nephews wish they could. He spent many happy hours there enjoying cutting his grass in the summer, raking leaves in the fall, but most of all he enjoyed boating, especially sailing his boat the Dragon Lady. He is survived by his son, Michael Knight Luebkert; by his ex wife, Fran Ward; by his sister Joan (Thomas) Kent; and by his brother, Malcolm (Susan) Luebkert. He is predeceased by his parents and his brother, Paul Luebkert. Bob's funeral will be held on September 15, 2021 at 12:00pm. The mass will be said at the Chapel of Sacred Heart Catholic Church located at 16501 Annapolis Rd, Bowie, MD 20715. Please note that effective Sunday, August 8, at 5:00 pm, face masks must be worn in both the Church and Chapel regardless of vaccination status.
