Wes Jordan Obituary

Dorsett Weston "Wes" Jordan, Cdr. (ret.) passed away unexpectedly at home at the age of 75 on March 6th, 2025. Born in Westport, CT to parents Donald & Carmen Jordan, Wes graduated from Valley Forge Military Academy in 1967 and later spent 25 years in the US Navy, during which time he pursued multiple advanced degrees from CU Boulder, Naval Postgraduate School- where he met his wife Linda while volunteering with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization (formerly known as the Buddy program)- and later GWU. During his time in the Navy, he was stationed at several ports across the globe, most notably in Naples, Italy where his family forged lifelong friendships and was affectionately known as his "happy place." After retiring from military life, Wes set roots down in Crofton, MD with his family and worked as a program manager for the USPS out of their Baltimore headquarters. He was a dedicated and proud father to his children and their hobbies, and became connected with various communities in the Annapolis area. He was a staunch believer in the importance of volunteering and dedicating one's time to helping others, spending much of his time, especially in his later years, with the Annapolis Friends Meeting, Conflict Resolution Center, Lighthouse Shelter, and the AVID and SAT prep programs at Annapolis High School, among countless others. Wes had a profound calling for environmental and human rights activism and if given the chance, delighted in conversation about either of the two. He was a passionate, thoughtful, innately curious and caring man who will be missed greatly by all who knew him. Wes is survived by his wife of 40 years, Linda Jordan (née Duncan), daughter Arielle Jordan (Pascal Ettinger), son Miles Jordan (Mayra Jordan) and granddaughter Daniela Jordan, sisters Phoebe Jordan Booth and Vicki Soler (Fran Carmichael), and brother Steve Jordan (Wendy Jordan), Shelly Alarie & family, along with several nieces and nephews. A celebration of life is planned for April 11th at 2pm at the Annapolis Friends Meetinghouse. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the ACLU or Southern Poverty Law Center, or to find a local organization that speaks to you and volunteer.

I lived in the Jordan household for a few years, looking after my Miles and Ariella so I witnessed first hand his love and dedication to his children. He was an exceptional dad, and I've known many of them over the years. He was always so calm, even though one certain child could be a tad challenging! He was just an excellent person in every way and always made me feel like a part of the family. Sending all the love in the world to my nanny family
