Andy Reed Obituary

Curtis Andrew Reed, known to many as Andy or C.A., passed away peacefully at his home in Red Lodge, Montana on February 26, 2025, after a decades long battle with cancer, with his loving wife, Linnhe, always by his side.

Andy was born on May 26, 1945, in Denver, Colorado to Helen (Sirkle) Reed and Donald La Rue Reed. He enjoyed growing up in Denver and spending summers in Delta, Colorado, where his father had fruit orchards and owned Skyline Fruits. He attended Denver Country Day, East High School and the University of Colorado.

Andy loved Formula One race cars and owned an import auto repair business in Denver, Colorado. He went on to become chief mechanic for an Indy car driver, and never forgot his experience going to Le Mans in France, in 1968. In 1973, Andy moved to Red Lodge, Montana to become the manager of the Carbon County Coal Company restaurant and bar. Later, he and his wife, Linnhe, would own the Native American Trading store, there,

Andy married Linnhe Kopplin on October 13, 1975. Their honeymoon to the Galapagos Islands and Machu Picchu reignited Andy's love of travel. San Jose, Mexico, BSC became a yearly favorite destination for the two of them.

Andy will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his good stories, and his ability to make people laugh. Unwavering in his stoicism and courage in the face of many cancers and surgeries, he was admired for his perseverance and for being an all-around good guy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Donald Reed, by his brothers, Rodney Reed and Jack Reed, and by his beloved nephew, Gary Reed.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linnhe Reed, son, Curtis Andrew Reed, Jr. (Drew) and his wife, Michelle Reed, grandson, Nile Reed, nieces and nephews in Colorado and many friends from throughout his life. Of note, his best friend, Ken Freeman, passed away the day before, Andy. There will be a joint celebration of both their lives this summer. Donations can be made in Andy's memory to the Beartooth Humane Alliance, PO Box 2333, Red Lodge, Montana, 59068.

I met Andy at Denver Country Day School in 1958. I always looked up to him, as he was a year older. One fond memory was of the two of us going up into the mountains in the back of an open jeep. Mr Falwell, his neighbor, was the driver. We spent two or three days shooting rifles and pistols at rocks and trees. We went through hundreds and hundreds of rounds of ammo. When Andy left DCD to attend high school we lost touch but I´ll always remember his kindness toward me. I´m sad to hear of his passing.

I will miss Andy. Especiallly nights when Andy would come over to the Snow Creek and I was tending bar. Good conversations. A friendship grew. I was a part of the wedding party for Andy and Linnhe. Playing board games will be missed. His knowledge in so many areas will be missed. Bless your new adventure now, Andy.
