Mark Peters Obituary

Mark Halliday Peters, 69, passed away on June 19, 2025 in Boynton Beach, Florida. He was born on November 16, 1955 to Mary Ellen Ferris and Gordon Maurice Becker in Hackensack, NJ. He graduated from Hendrick Hudson High School in Montrose, NY and Nyack College in Nyack, NY. He worked as a computer programmer specializing in database code for the State of California until his retirement in 2020. Mark took his role in society to heart; he had a strong and sincere desire to help people. He volunteered as a diver at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, as a docent at the Sacramento Zoo, and in several soup kitchens; he also brought food directly to homeless people on the street. Mark was also a child at heart. He adored Disneyworld and Disneyland and reveled in seeing enchanted children and adults letting their inner child take charge. No matter where he was or what he was doing, he sought out opportunities to talk to strangers...and their dogs. Mark is survived by his father, Gordon Becker (Andrea Binkley); siblings Karin (Becker) Tome (Michael), Jonathan Becker (Deborah Malkin), and Andrew Binkley; nephews and nieces including Jesse Tome (Kristin), Ethan Tome (Emily), Jack Becker, Meera Becker and Nazir Elliott; grand nephews Alden and Hudson Tome; and ex-wife Darlene (Peters) Becker. He also leaves behind his 2 cats, Leila and Ana. Mark was a very warm, soft spoken and kind man. He was always very considerate and cordial to everyone he came in contact with and thought of others much more than he thought of himself. He was the definition of a true "gentle man and a gentleman." He will be missed by many friends and neighbors living here with him in Boynton Beach. He always had something nice to say or share a story with us. May his memory be a blessing. Rhona Hayes
