Barbara Klinefelter Obituary

Barbara Joan Klinefelter, (nee Turnbaugh) of Gamber, MD, passed into the hands of her Heavenly Father on December 5, 2024. Born on June 28, 1942, to parents Charles Turnbaugh and Viola Turnbaugh (Sprinkle), She was an only child, who made many lifelong friends at Owings Mills Elementary School. Tragedy struck when her father died when she was 6 years old, followed by her mother when she was 16. She was blessed by her Aunt Frances Cole who brought her to her home to live. Barbara adjusted well to her circumstance and graduated from Franklin High School in the class of 1960. Barbara is survived by Robert Klinefelter, her loving husband of 63 years. The marriage produced two daughters, Donna Almony and Susan Russell and 2 grandchildren: Ayden Almony and Patrick Almony. After graduation, Barbara began her working career as a cashier with Union Trust Bank, where she had the dubious experience of surviving two armed robberies. She was a stay-at-home mom while her daughters were young, but returned to work at several banking jobs after they began school. During one summer, Barbara and Bob traveled with friends to a country music festival, where the entertainers were playing bluegrass-style music. Barbara fell in love with both the music and the friendliness of the musicians and the audience members. Her love for this music made her want to be more deeply involved so she started promoting and scheduling bluegrass night at several churches in the Carroll County area. Her love of the music grew to the point where she wrote the lyrics to a number of songs, four of which have been recorded professionally. Her music promotion work continued until her health declined and she decided to retire. Barbara stayed close to a group of friends where she developed a new love of playing the game of dominoes, having refreshments and sharing in laughter. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 10:30-11:30am at the Eline Funeral Home, 2901 Bloom Road, Finksburg, MD. A funeral service will begin at 11:30am. Interment to follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bridging Life Hospice or The Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS).
