Barbara Rill Obituary

Barbara Jean Rill, age 72 of Taneytown, Maryland died Monday, January 15, 2024 at her home, after a brief battle with an aggressive form of Alzheimer's disease. She was born on May 16, 1951 to the late Lester Junior and Lana Elizabeth Wolf. She was the loving wife of Albert John Rill for 54 years. Barbara was a loving, caring and compassionate, wife, sister, mother and grandmother. She worked as a seamstress for a combined total of 50 years. She was employed at Borensteins in Taneytown and Aneco Clothing in Hanover, PA and she retired from Jos. A. Bank in 2018. After her retirement she enjoyed taking car rides and trips to Walmart with her husband Albert. She enjoyed shopping for clothes and shoes, listening to the oldies and dancing to the twist. She loved her family more than anything. Christmas was her favorite time of the year, and she was blessed to be able to spend one more Christmas with all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to Barbara's husband Albert, her sister and best friend Dianne stood tirelessly by her side throughout her entire battle with Alzheimer's. Besides her husband Albert, Barbara is survived by her children, Rusty(Barb) Rill, Johnny(Amy) Rill, and Dwayne Rill all of Taneytown; daughter-in-law's Nicole Newman and Shannon Lamer of Taneytown; sisters Sharon Benson of Woodsboro and Dianne Wagaman of Taneytown; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; her caregivers Tiffani, Kira, Kassia and Kimberly; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Bradley Rill and her sister Kathleen Crowl. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 22, 2024, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore Street, Taneytown MD 21787. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 23rd at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Grace United Church of Christ cemetery. In our teenage years Barbie and I spent many Friday nights at the Westminster teen center. We went to school together and had a lot of fun. She was a very sweet lady. My thoughts and prayers are with her family. Rest in peace my friend.
