Christopher A. Tabor

1948 - 2022

Christopher Adam Tabor, of Boca Raton FL, formerly of Eldersburg MD, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at the age of 73. He was born in Shamokin, PA on December 25, 1948 to James and Alma Tabor. He grew up in East Baltimore with his three brothers.? He lived there until moving to the Maryland suburbs in 1982.? He began a career at the Social Security Administration in 1971 as a clerk and retired 41 years later as a Deputy Division Director in Operations. He married Gail Sunstrom on February 2, 1985 in Baltimore. They moved to the suburbs of Eldersburg MD later that year, becoming a part of a wonderful community, raising their two daughters, Allison and Lauren, and creating a circle of best friends. Friends who raised their children together, shared amazing vacations, and together went through both good and bad times.?? ? Even though he was taken from us way too soon, Chris lived a full life.? He played football and softball well into his 30's - way longer than he should have, leading to new knees and hips.? He found his real sports passion in playing golf with a myriad of friends both in Maryland and Florida.? Throughout the lives of his daughters, he coached them in a variety of sports including softball, basketball, swimming, soccer, and lacrosse.? As a spectator he was always a loud and vocal cheerleader, never missing a game, match, or meet.? A true Baltimorean, he loved following the Ravens (most of the time). He enjoyed the beach, Maryland crabs and crabcakes, crafting specialty party cocktails and organizing everyone to sing Christmas carols together during the holidays.? Most of all he enjoyed being with his family anywhere and he was always the most fun person at any party.? ? Chris is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Gail, two daughters Allison Martin and Lauren Gray, son-in-law, RJ Gray, two grandchildren Benjamin Martin and Bodie Gray, his pup Ruby, brothers Michael, wife Pat, and Louie, wife Portia, brother-in-law, Jim Sunstrom, wife Belinda, a niece and nephews, and many, many new and long-time friends in Maryland and Florida.?? A celebration of Chris' life will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 3:00-6:00PM at the Freedom Fire Hall (6680 Sykesville Rd, Sykesville, MD 21784). All friends are welcome.
