Daniel Cox Obituary

Daniel Boyd Cox, 78, of Hanover, PA, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, April 8, 2023. Born September 23, 1944, he was the son of the late Scottie and Blanche Cox. He was the loving husband of Ann Cox, marrying in 1993 after many years of courtship. Dan graduated from Ohio State University with his bachelor's degree in 1966. He worked as a lender and appraiser for Mid Atlantic Farm Credit/Federal Land Bank, retiring in 2005 after 31 years. He was devoted to his family spending many hours attending sporting and band events for his children and grandchildren. Family history was a special interest and he devoted hours to researching and documenting his family's history and lineage and wrote beautiful family memoirs describing his childhood. He was a gentle spirit and a farmer at heart restoring a 1944 John Deere Model L tractor. He enjoyed listening to country, bluegrass and gospel music. He loved working outdoors and crafting beautifully detailed model train layouts. He was a kind, Spirit-filled man and, until Parkinson's Disease prohibited it, an active member of Ascension Episcopal Church. Besides his wife Ann, Dan is survived by his children, David Cox and wife, Tiffany, of Westminster, MD; Robin Fleming and husband, Shannon, of Hanover, PA; and Christopher Fritz and wife, Kristie, of Silver Run, MD; siblings Sandra Small and husband, Bob; Douglas Cox and wife, Jean; and Donald Cox. He is also survived by seven great joys in his life, his grandchildren: Wyatt and Garrett Cox, Alicia Sztobryn, Katie Saldarriaga, and Nathan, Gabriella and Grayson Fritz. Dan's family will receive friends at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home PA, 136 E. Baltimore St, Taneytown, MD 21787 on Monday, April 17, 2023, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, in the historic Stone Church at Ascension Episcopal Church, 23 N. Court St, Westminster, MD 21757 at 11 a.m. with a luncheon in the Great Hall after the Interment. Interment will follow the service at Meadow Branch Cemetery, 818 Old Taneytown Road Westminster,?Maryland,?21158. Memorial donations may be made in Dan's memory to either The Parkinson's Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131 or Bridging Life (formerly Carroll Hospice), 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157.
