Emma Devilbiss Obituary

Emma Garrett Devilbiss, 94, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Lorien Nursing and Rehabilitation, Taneytown, MD. She was the loving wife of the late Roger William Devilbiss who died March 1, 1989. Born January 30, 1931, in Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of the late Merle Horatio and Aimee (Altland) Garrett. Emma was a member of Keysville Lutheran Church and was a 1948 graduate of Taneytown High School. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed by the Birnie Trust Co. and Taneytown Bank & Trust Co. She is survived by her son Rodney William Devilbiss, Phoenix, AZ, sister, Joanne B. Morrison, Taneytown, MD and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Shana Devilbiss, brothers, Raymond, Philip and M. Franklin Garrett and sister Martha J. Cooper. "As per Emma's request, there will be no viewing or funeral service. Instead of paying respect to me, do something for the living. Give God glory for his Grace in my life." A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 11 AM at Keysville Lutheran Church, 7301 Keysville Rd., Keymar, MD.
