Joanne Kovacs Obituary

Joanne Sanders Kovacs, 77, of Sykesville passed away on Monday, October 3, 2022, in her home surrounded by her family. Born June 19, 1945, in Baltimore, she was the only child of the late Frank and Anita (McCabe) Sanders. She is survived by her beloved husband, John R. Kovacs. They would have celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary on October 6. She was a beloved mother to her children Anne (James) Liskow and John (Katie) Kovacs, Jr. and a loving grandmother to her grandchildren, Natalie, Clark, Jackson and Max. Joanne enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren at their school events and vacations at the beach. She was an elementary school teacher at St. Williams of York and a substitute teacher for Carroll County Public Schools. Joanne was a cancer survivor and the family is eternally grateful for the excellent care she received at GBMC, Carroll Hospital, BridgingLife and grant funding through HealthWell Foundation. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to HealthWell Foundation, 20440 Century Boulevard, Suite 250, Germantown, MD 20874 <www.HealthWellFoundation.org>. A funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Community (Old Church) Mellor Ave. and Sandusky Road, Sykesville on Monday, October 10, 2022, at 11 am. Internment will be private.

My deepest sympathy to Joanne's family. I just became aware of her passing today. She and I attended IND together and graduated in 1963. Joanne was a quiet lady but always friendly with everyone. May her soul rest in peace with the Lord.
