Julie Munch Obituary

Julie Nell Munch, 73, of Westminster, died Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Autumn Lake Healthcare at Longview, in Manchester, MD. Born November 12,1951, in Reisterstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Louis Eldon Munch and Charlotte Suttle Munch. She graduated from Westminster High School in 1969. Julie worked in her family's restaurant, Munch's Drive In, and later for many years she worked for her brother, Joe Munch, at Munch's Court Street Café. She started as a camper at River Valley Ranch as a teenager, eventually growing into a role as a counselor. For many summers, she worked in the snack shop and served as a counselor and photographer for the Ranch. She was very active in her church, especially working with the youth groups and youth Sunday School classes. Julie was active in many sports as a player, coach, and scorekeeper. She coached the Drillers and the Blue Jays softball teams for the Westminster Jaycee Softball League, and she coached the Westminster High School Junior Varsity softball team. She played rugby, and she served as scorekeeper for the Westminster High School varsity basketball team. For over forty years, she served as scorekeeper for The Westminster High School varsity baseball team, and she was honored as the Volunteer of the Year by the Maryland State Association of Baseball Coaches. Surviving are sisters-in-law Jennifer Munch of Westminster, MD and Robin Munch of Littlestown, PA, and brother-in-law Carl Lindsay of Westminster, MD, and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. She was pre-deceased by sisters, Ardena Gosnell, Deanna Myers, Judy Lindsay, and brothers, Thomas Munch, and Julian (Joe) Munch. Funeral services will be held at Grace Bible Church at 3250 Charmil Drive, Manchester, on Saturday, March 29 at 11:00 am with her pastor Rev. Gregory Breen officiating. A reception and time for sharing stories and memories of Julie will take place in the church gymnasium following the service. For those who are unable to attend, services will be livestreamed at www.gbcnc.com. Memorial contributions may be made to the Westminster High School baseball program (Check Payable to Westminster High School Baseball), c/o Brian Tombs at Westminster High School at 1225 Washington Road, Westminster, MD 21157 or to the Boys and Girls Club of Westminster at 25 Union Street, Westminster, MD 21157. I will always think of Julie when I watch certain tv shows. We would always talk about them when I would see her which was usually the next day. It was a privilege to have known her. RIP Julie

Julie lit up the place with her smile and her laugh. I met Julie at the Y many years ago when she took classes in the pool. She loved the pool. I used to park her car for her when I was working at the desk. I went a few times to see the cats and enjoyed a Christmas party or two at her house. I didn't know she was a scorekeeper for the WHS boys baseball team until one of my neighbors played on the team and there Julie was. Every once in awhile she would pull up to the Y doors and honk to see who was working to come talk with her or yell your name from the car at Shoppers to chat. Julie was a true friend!

My sincere sympathy to Julie's family. She was a bright light at the Cafe and I was a frequent visitor there when Joe ran the restaurant. Munch's Cafe was the place for lunch. Julie almost always had a smile and an up beat attitude an she loved her sports. RIP Julie!

Julie and I were friends for many years,such a sweetie....she would visit me often at Hoffman´s for many years and we were yard sale buddies for years and we both loved tropical treat.So Very Sorry..Prayers for the family

I met Julie while working at Harry´s Sub Shop. She made the best Cole slaw. I had to buy it for every holiday. Julie and I had some great talks back in the kitchen washing dishes . Rest in peace Julie.

Julie and I were co-workers, friends and rivals. We worked together at Munch´s and later Harry´s Sub Shop. She coached the legendary Drillers. I coached the Chiefs. It was a bitter rivalry. A rivalry which actually caused a rift in our relationship and a visit from Ray Owings asking "what the hell is wrong with you two". Appropriately the Drillers won the Jaycee softball championship that year over
my Chiefs. Although we went to the last game.( I can´t remember if it was best of three or five). I can´t imagine rec league softball has had such a rivalry since. The softball thing quickly faded and I was once again Mikeeee. A quick restaurant story. Julie made 99% of the Cole slaw. She showed me how it was made but back then nothing was written down.It seemed like EVERY holiday we ran out of Cole slaw. I would make it, but someone else had to taste it to make sure I did it right. (I hate Cole slaw). Our lives went in totally different directions in the mid 80´s. We saw each other occasionally and when we saw each other we would reminisce (time permitting) and share a big hug. I´m so glad I knew Julie
