Linda Portner Obituary

Linda Kay Portner entered this world on Tuesday, December 19, 1950 and passed away on October 2, 2025. She is survived by her loving husband, Richard C. Portner Jr, treasured daughter, Hillary Anne Herrmann, wonderful son-in-law, John Oliver Herrmann, and her cherished grandchildren, John Everett Herrmann and Henry Richard Herrmann. Born and raised in Hollywood, California, Linda graduated from the Marlborough School in 1967. She attended the University of Washington, where she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa before graduating in 1971. Driven by a love for business, she returned to the University of Washington and earned her MBA two years later, graduating with honors as a member of Beta Gamma Sigma. Linda enjoyed the business world immensely, ever moving to different companies with greater challenges. While working at Digital Equipment Corporation (now Hewlett Packard) in Boston, she met Richard in 1983, married him in 1984, and gave birth to their daughter, Hillary, in 1986. Linda particularly enjoyed working at Ernst & Young LLP where she made partner in just six years. She retired at 60 to enjoy life in Northern Idaho. Thirteen years later, Linda and Richard moved to Carroll County, MD to be with family and grandchildren. Friends and family are invited to attend the funeral service on Wednesday, October 8th, at Westminster United Methodist Church at 165 E Main Street, Westminster, MD. Visitation at 2PM, service at 2:30PM with a reception following thereafter. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the Humane Society of Carroll County.
