Lisa Esmond Obituary
Lisa Ann Bowers Esmond, 47, of Sykesville, died Wednesday, April 30, 2014, after a lengthy illness.
Born June 20, 1966, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Thelma Beach and Joseph Patrick Bowers. She was the wife of David Esmond, whom she married in 1996.
She grew up in Brookeville and attended Sherwood High School. She worked on the staff of Congressman Tom Foley and with various consulting firms in the engineering and insurance fields. She then took on the job of stay-at-home mom to her sons. She loved her boys and enjoyed watching their sports and activities. She also loved music and passed that love, especially of The Eagles, on to her boys. She enjoyed cooking, decorating, art, poetry, writing, dollhouses and especially laughter.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are sons David Alexander "Gus" and Jacob Charles "Jake"; sister Joni Marie Gill and husband Pete; brother Joseph Paul Bowers and wife Rebecca; and nieces and nephews Stevie, Caroline, Joey and Hannah.
She was predeceased by a brother, Ronald Charles Bowers, in 1997.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Community, 915 Liberty Road, Eldersburg.
An education fund has been established to benefit her children. Memorial contributions may be sent to BB&T, Attn: Esmond Education Fund, 1300 Liberty Road, Eldersburg, MD 21784.

Our deepest condolences to all of the family. I remember Lisa as a warm, happy and caring person. Equally beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. Back in the 80s Sherwood won a contest, and the prize was having Hall & Oates play at our school. The Ertzman Theater was packed. As the band started, Daryl Hall walked into the audience and took Lisa's hand and lead her to the stage, and sang to her. She was so gracious, and we were so excited for her. I think that Lisa was the envy of every girls eye that day. We are so sorry to hear of Lisa's passing. She touched so many hearts. We will keep all of the family in our daily prayers.
