Marjorie Mikus Obituary

On April 3, Marjorie Ann Beck Mikus of Finksburg passed away peacefully at Atlee Hill Nursing Center in Westminster in the presence of her family. Born in Baltimore, Margie grew up in the Catonsville home of her devoted parents William and Ruth Beck. She was a 1964 graduate of Woodlawn high school and a Certified Dental Assistant graduate of the University of Maryland Dental School in 1967. She continued her career in the dental field as a dental assistant, receptionist, and office manager until her retirement in 2014. Margie valued the times spent with friends and family visiting museums, zoos, craft fairs, auto races, camping, shows, travel, tea rooms, and creating ceramics. She would spend hours sitting on the boardwalk people watching, imaginatively creating backstories as people walked by. Margie was a dear aunt, cousin, and friend. Everyone she met touched her life as she, hopefully, left a lasting impression on them. Margie is survived by her daughter Melissa and son-in-law Mike Shipley. She is remembered by her beloved nieces and nephews, Kim Beck and her husband Wayne, Paul Triplett and his wife Diane, along with her dear friend and "sister" Rosemary Weber. "Aunt Margie" will be dearly missed by her extended family. Margie's life was blessed and filled with the love of her family; you were all so very special to her. Donations can be made to the animal rescue of choice in Margie's name. There will be a memorial service at a later date where all who loved her can gather in celebration of her life.
