Melvin Yingling Obituary

Melvin Luther Yingling, 85, of Westminster, formerly of Uniontown, died Friday, July 23, 2010, at Golden Living Center in Westminster. Born Jan. 1, 1925, in Pleasant Valley, he was the son of the late Luther M. and Viola Myers Yingling. He was the husband of Dorothy Fox Yingling, who died in 1998. He was formerly a meat cutter with Yingling Brothers in Union Bridge and Wm. F. Myers and Hahn's, both of Westminster, retiring in 1995. He also worked part-time at Myers' Super Thrift in Union Bridge. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Union Bridge. He enjoyed gardening, bowling and long drives on the weekends. Surviving are a daughter, Kathy L. Yingling, of Westminster; sons Mark S. Yingling and wife Sue, of Riverside, Calif., John L. Yingling and wife Cindy, of Hampstead, and Robert A. Yingling and fiancee, Beverly Jane Dawson, of Millers; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Yingling, of Silver Run; sisters Dorothy Mullinix, of Mount Airy, and Grace Liebno and husband Richard, of Westminster; brother Douglas Yingling and wife Marie, of Union Bridge; sister-in-law Shirley Altvater and husband Jake, of New Windsor; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Edward S. Yingling, who died in 2010. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 310 Church St., New Windsor. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with his pastor, the Rev. Richard L. Michael, officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Silver Run.
