Dear Klausmeyer family, Paul was a kind and gentile man, and it was a real pleasure working with him. In our interactions over the last several years, I was impressed by his quiet energy, depth of knowledge, unselfishness, good humor and amazing skill in asking the right questions. We will miss him very much and our thought and prayers go to you in these difficult times.

Paul was a smart guy. His work was very important to him. Sadly, his drive to work is what took him from us. I will always remember the fun times, the fun conversations, the Christmas parties...we were both "hippies." He was so smart, so kind and positive and I know he loved his family more than anything. RIP my friend. And may the angels surround your family in their warmth during this difficult time. Until we meet again in heaven....

Paul, you were such a wonderful person and scientist. You made everyday in the lab fun! Everyday when I came in you'd say hello to me, making me feel welcome, and you always genuinely cared about my projects and about helping me. You taught me so much, and I thank you. You will truly be missed. My family and I send our prayers to your entire family.

Paul worked for NCI-Frederick in support of my branch for many years and we often discussed areas well outside of chemistry. I thoroughly enjoyed discussing many things with him, particularly during a trip to the Czech Republic where he was an invited speaker in July last year.

To Jennifer and the girls; your husband and father will be sorely missed both as a person and a scientist. His publications in the natural products/cancer field however, will be cited for many years, so in the future, you will be able to point to his "scientific contributions" as one facet of his life.

We will remember Paul as a strong and gentle soul who tried to live true to the guiding principle that hard, honest work and inquiry with respect for all that surrounds us leads to peace and contentment. I believe Paul will live on in the beauty that came from his work and in the gifts he passes on through Ellie and Rosie, who, along with Jennifer, he loved and respected with all his heart. They were his greatest joy.
Our hearts go out to the three of you.
