Paul Rill Obituary

Paul David Rill, 89, of Westminster, went to his Heavenly home on Sunday, May 8, 2022 at Carroll Hospital Center surrounded by his daughters. He celebrated Mother's Day with his beloved wife of 68 years, Annarebekah G. Rill, who passed away on December 7, 2020. Born March 5, 1933 in Clearfield, MD, he was the son of the late Ethel (Hughes) Rill and Roland F. Rill. Following his graduation from Westminster High School in 1951, he continued his passion for farming on the family farm near Carrollton with his wife and daughters. In addition, he began driving a school bus for a local contractor. In 1968, he was awarded his first school bus contract through the Carroll County Public School system and established his family business, Rill's Bus Service. He continued to increase his school bus fleet throughout the years adding motor coaches to the fleet in 1984. In 2017, he was awarded the "Top Gun Award" by Carroll County Public Schools for 51 years of accident free driving. He and his wife were honored to serve the transportation needs of Carroll County and far beyond for over 54 years, in addition to providing scenic tours throughout the United States and Canada. He has provided his daughters and their families the opportunity to continue the family legacy in the bus industry. He always enjoyed meeting new people and creating memorable experiences during his extensive travels. He and his wife began the bus ministry outreach at the Church of the Open Door, involving weekly family visitations and transporting hundreds of children to Sunday School. He served faithfully over the years in various Church leadership positions. One of his greatest passions was his mission travels with his dear friend, Richard Sanford, of New Tribes Mission. They traveled to many countries in South America, Africa, New Guinea, Philippines, and Central America Their mission was to reach the unknown tribal people throughout the world with the gospel of Christ and to encourage the work of missionaries in each area. He dedicated his daily life to his family and business and was a mentor to many friends and everyone that he met along the way. He is survived by daughters, Dianne Grote and Doreen Reger (Tim Reger); grandchildren, Lauren Grote (Tyran Dungee), Rochelle Grote (Jason Laguna), Selina Salas (Tereso Salas), and Kristi Jenness (Rob Jenness); and step granddaughters, Hannah Martin (Daniel Martin) and Kayleen Reger (Pat Rickell); great-grandchildren, Nikkea Turner, Ariana and Angelina Rivera, Jason and Marcelino Laguna, Angel, Issac and Junior Salas, Riley and Wyatt Jenness; and step-great-grandchildren, Chandler and Blair Martin. With our deepest sympathy to the entire family. My parents loved being with you all. It made me happy to see them enjoy so much time with your family. Great times and memories.
We enjoy our annual Christmas trips with you and will treasure each moment. Looking forward to more.
Until then may God give you the strength to move forward until we all meet our loved ones again, when it's our turn to leave this temporary home.
God bless and with much love, Jennifer and Kevin Garner and our family.

Pappap, I feel like there is a huge piece of me missing...you were my grandfather, my boss and my best friend. You were always there for me and my family. I love and miss you so much. I can't wait for the day I can see you, Dad, Nana and the rest of the family members we lost along the way. I have to remember, we are just passing through, until we're called to come to our real home, Heaven. What a day that will be!! You don't have to worry about missing the boys playing ball, you have the best seat in the house, right next to Dad. Watch over us...love you - Rochelle

We had the privilege of knowing and working with Mr. Paul Rill in the school bus business (for me it was over forty years.) We always enjoyed our visits with him even when he was straightening us out regarding something related to his buses that needed our attention. We respected his work ethic, care for others and overall desire to see things done right! We´re sorry for the loss of such a great person to the school bus industry.
