Richard Durboraw Obituary

Richard "Rick" Charles Durboraw, 74, of Westminster, Maryland, formerly of Hainesport, NJ passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at his home surrounded by family. Rick was born on October 8, 1949 in Riverside, NJ the son of Charles Robert "Bob" and Lillian (Stowe) Durboraw. He graduated from Cinnaminson high school in 1968, and was a volunteer with the Cinnaminson Vol. Fire Co. He married Judy McCay on January 15, 1972 in Las Vegas, NV and together they had 2 sons, Justin and Jamie. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and served on Air Force bases in Idaho, Nevada, and overseas in Thailand. Rick worked for the telephone company for his entire career as an installer and technician. He worked with NJ Bell, AT&T, and retired from Lucent Technologies. Following retirement, he worked for several years as an independent contractor with the local NJ I.B.E.W. From an early age Rick's passion was racing cars and working on them. He ran a micro sprint car at several tracks in NJ, DE, and PA for many years, and when he wasn't racing always enjoyed watching NASCAR on TV. His family is grateful that he has now finished his final race and won. He was a beloved husband, dad, and poppy to his grandchildren. Rick was predeceased by his parents, Bob and Lil; brother, Steve; and nephew, Todd. Those left to cherish Rick's memory are his wife of 52 years, Judy; sons, Justin (Anne) Durboraw of North Platte, NE and Jamie Durboraw of Westminster; grandchildren, Glenn, Martha, Emma, Gilbert, Vanessa, Jadelynn, and Wyatt; great granddaughters, Lennon and Leilani; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Edward (Lorraine) McCay of Hammonton, NJ; several nephews and a niece. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bridging Life Hospice or to the American Diabetes Association. The family would like to thank the many nurses and volunteers from Bridging Life who assisted them for the past several months. At the request of the family, services will be private, and burial will be at St. Luke's Lutheran Cemetery in New Windsor, MD. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Westminster. Online condolences and expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.myersdurborawfh.com.
