Ruth Liberman Obituary



Ruth R. Liberman, 99 of Fairhaven Retirement Community, formerly of Leisure World. Died Wednesday, January 17, 2018. She is preceded in death by husbands Leon Terish and Ben Liberman. Mrs. Liberman was born June 8, 1918 in Washington, DC the daughter of the late Sam Lafsky and the late Miriam (Kohn)Bonnett. She was a secretary for the University of MD. She enjoyed playing Mahjong, reading, gardening and collecting anything to do with butterflies. At Fairhaven she was known as "The Butterfly Lady". Devoted mother of Carol and husband Lucky Lockhart of Westminster and Hinda Terish of Eldersburg. Dear sister of the late Dr. Benjamin Lafsky, late Silvia Perlstein and late Rebekah Eisenberg. Loving grandmother of Todd Lockhart, Marnie Henson, Todd Flax, Scott Flax and Shelley Doen. Also survived by numerous great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held Sunday, February 11, 2018 2 PM at Fairhaven Chapel, 7200 Third Ave. Sykesville, MD 21784. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Butterfly Conservatory of the Montgomery Parks Foundation, Brookside Gardens, 9500 Brunett Ave. Silver Spring, MD 20901.
