Sherman Clagg

Sherman Clagg, 76, of Spring Grove, Pa., died Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011, after a battle with lung cancer. Born May 28, 1935, in Big Sandy, W. Va., he was the son of the late Cecil Vernon Sr. and Nellie Clagg. Twice married, he was the husband of Nancy Shiflett Ditman Clagg, and the late Roberta Sue Clagg. He worked for the Social Security Administration for many years and retired in 1998. He served in the National Guard, was a member of the Hanover AMVETS and a member of First United Methodist Church in Hanover, Pa. He enjoyed reading, boating, camping, grilling and spending time with family and friends. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children LaDonna Holloman, Sherman Dwayne Clagg, Joni Coppage, Stacy Elofir, Scott Clagg, Michele Holcombe, Julie Chronister and Tim Ditman and their spouses; siblings Robert Clagg, David Clagg, Carolyn Gray, Nancy Johns, Sue Johns and Jeannie Vance; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings Vernon Clagg Jr. and Jackie Clagg. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of the memorial service, 3 p.m. Tuesday, at Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove.
