Tobias Bowers Obituary

Tobias A. "Toby" Bowers, 56, of Littlestown, Pa., died early Monday morning, Sept. 12, 2011, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Born March 2, 1955, in Gettysburg, Pa., he was the son of Lloyd and Ruth Rodkey Bowers, of Taneytown. He was the husband of the late Mary Ann Riley Bowers. He was a 1973 graduate of Francis Scott Key High School. He had been employed by Bowers Company in Littlestown, C.J. Miller in Hampstead, PMI Inc. in Crofton and Lowe's of Frederick. He was a member of Piney Creek Church of the Brethren in Taneytown, the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Littlestown and a social member of the V.F.W. in Littlestown. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are a son, Scott A. Bowers, of Littlestown; a stepson, Randy L. Warner, of Reisterstown; a step-grandson, Grant Thomas Warner; a brother Thomas L. Bowers, of Taneytown; and a girlfriend, Wendee Bitto, of Frederick. He was predeceased by a brother, William A. Bowers; and a sister, Brenda K. Fogle. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Little's Funeral Home, 34 Maple Ave., Littlestown. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Piney Creek Church of the Brethren, 4699 Teeter Road, Taneytown, with his pastor, the Rev. Stan T. Diehl officiating. Interment will be in Piney Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to National Kidney Foundation, 4813 Jonestown Road, Suite 101, Harrisburg, PA 17109-1700; or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 3607 Rosemont Ave., Suite 404, Camp Hill, PA 17011. To the Bowers family I too grew up with Toby rode the bus, school. I remember him playing cards with my mother and I and ice skating. He will be greatly missed. Thoughts and prayers be with you.
