Weldon Dobson

1928 - 2021

Weldon E. Dobson of Cape Coral, FL, formerly of Westminster, MD went home to be with the Lord on November 24, 2021 at Gulf Coast Hospital in Ft Myers, FL after a brief illness. Born January 16, 1928 in Bird Hill, Carroll County, MD to the late Harry Auldon and Thelma Alverta (Welch) Dobson. Weldon graduated from Westminster High School in 1945. He served in the Army as an instructor at Ft. Monmouth, NJ during the Korean conflict. After being honorably discharged, he married Doris Gesell in 1955 and they recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. Weldon went to work at AAI as a technical writer and later as a project engineer. His job allowed him and the family to travel extensively, especially in the US. After 29 years with AAI, he retired to Cape Coral and he and Doris continued to travel the world. He attended Southwest Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and his cats. Weldon had many interests including Southern Gospel music, gardening, flying, boating, fishing, computers and working with his hands. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children Martha A and Richard Wade of Cape Coral, FL, David W and Angie Dobson of Bellevue, OH and Ruth E and Robert Gorsuch of Cape Coral, FL, 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Southwest Baptist Church with Pastor Robert Kasten officiating. Visitation will be Thursday December 2, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until the service at 2:30 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Krider's Lutheran Cemetery in Westminster, MD on December 11, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Southwest Baptist Church, 16940 McGregor Blvd, Ft Myers, FL 33908, 239-454-3336 or to a charity of your choice.
