William E. "Bill" Devilbiss

William E. "Bill" Devilbiss, 68, of Taneytown, died unexpectedly Sunday, May 16, 2010, at Gettysburg Hospital. Born Jan. 1, 1942, in Taneytown, he was the son of the late Myrle Reifsnider and Dorothy Louise Dutrow Devilbiss. He was the husband of Mary K. Lowe Devilbiss, his wife of 25 years. He served with the Pennsylvania National Guard from 1966 to 1978. He worked in quality control as a supervisor for 28 years with Telemecanique and later with Black & Decker. He enjoyed farming, hunting and gun collecting. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons Jeff A. Devilbiss, of Westminster, and Brian K. Devilbiss, of Gettysburg; granddaughters Rachel and Rebecca Devilbiss; and a brother, Robert L. Devilbiss, of Taneytown. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Deacon Charles E. Barnhart Jr. officiating. Private interment will be in Mount Pleasant United Methodist Cemetery in Taneytown. Memorial contributions may be sent to the charity of one's choice.
