Joe Coffey Obituary

Mr. Joe Coffey, age 66 of Lafayette, GA, passed away on Monday, August 11, 2025, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN.

Joe was born on March 8th, 1959, in Gilmer County to the late L.M. Coffey and Pauline Gentry Coffey. He was a hard-working man and always willing to help others. He loved the Lord, his Church, and his family. He also enjoyed fishing with his best friend, Malcolm, and loved a good home-cooked meal. He is preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Lee Coffey.

He is survived by his brothers Johnny M.L. Coffey (Frances), Chatsworth GA, James Windle Coffey, Calhoun GA, Sisters Wanda Ballew (Steven), Calhoun GA, Helen Green, Stevenson AL, Ann Gordon, Calhoun GA, sister-in-law, Wanda Coffey, best friend of 48 years Malcolm Harris (Ann) Lafayette GA, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Joe Coffey will be held on Saturday, August 16th, 2025, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Malcolm Harris officiating. Pallbearers will be Steve Howlington, Eli Hamilton, Michael Gordon, Anthony Banks, Cody Banks, and Thomas Watson. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 16th, 2025, from 10:00 am until the service hour of 2:00 pm.

Food and Flowers will be accepted in memory of Mr. Coffey.

Bernhardt Funeral Home is in charge of these arrangements.
