Doris Clemans Obituary

Doris Louise Clemans, 96

On July 17, 2024, Doris Clemans went to be with her Lord and Savior. We rejoice, knowing that she now sees Jesus face to face. Doris was known for her kindness and deep-rooted faith, touching many lives with the love of Christ. Her journey was marked by a lifetime of service to others, reflecting the grace and mercy she found in her relationship with God.

Doris was born on February 25, 1928, to Chester and Mary Jane Lybecker in Monroe, Washington. She graduated from Walla Walla High School and then went on to Washington State College graduating in 1948. She continued to pursue nursing and graduated from St. Luke's Nursing School in Spokane in 1951.

Doris met her husband, Floyd, at her sister's wedding. They were married in 1955 at the Methodist Church in Walla Walla. Doris and Floyd honeymooned at Lake Louise in Canada and then took up residence in Spokane. Doris worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Luke's Hospital for several years before staying home with her children. In 1964 they moved to Coeur d'Alene and in 1968 moved to Nettleton Gulch. That same year Doris started working at Kootenai Memorial Hospital on the surgical floor, retiring in 1991.

Doris shared her love of gardening by giving away seeds and plant starts to friends and family. She has been active in the First Presbyterian Church since 1964. Doris loved to serve in various ways: being a deacon, working in the library, folding bulletins, singing in the choir, attending Mary's Circle, and helping in the kitchen.

Doris is survived by her two brothers, Donald (Kay) Lybecker of Fort Collins, Colorado and Russell Lybecker (Wendy Galasso) of Bellingham, Washington; her children: Kevin (Eileen) Clemans of Des Moines, Washington, Colleen (Vern) Krahn of Carson City, Nevada, Keith (Mandie) Clemans of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and Karen (Don) Suchynsky of Langley, British Columbia, Canada. Doris had thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church, 521 E. Lakeside Ave., Coeur d'Alene. A viewing/visitation will be from 5:00 – 6:30 PM on Monday, July 29, 2024, at Yates Funeral Home – Coeur d'Alene Chapel, 744 N. 4th St., Coeur d'Alene.
