Robert McCall Obituary

Robert H. McCall, 79

How do you encapsulate the life of the person you love? Bob McCall, wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend left us on July 14, 2024, after fighting a brave battle with pancreatic cancer.

Bob was born on June 11, 1945, in St. Louis, Missouri to Gerald and Corine McCall. After moving to various areas, his family settled in Idaho Falls, Idaho in 1950. Bob's favorite sport growing up was baseball, and he was an Allstar on his team. After graduating from high school, Bob went to the University of Idaho and received his Bachelor's degree in business. He received his Master's degree in business in 1970 at WSU. Bob enlisted in the Army Reserves and joined a Drill Sergeant unit in the Spokane Valley. He did his best to train troops for the Vietnam war. Later, Bob went on to pass his CPA exam at EWU. He and his brother, Jim, started their own practice in Hayden in 1981.

In 1967, Bob married Sheryl Sue Beebe (Susie), and they were blessed with three wonderful children; Jarrett John in 1975, Marc Michael in 1976 and Barbara Sue in 1979.

Bob not only worked hard to provide for his family, but had a great sense of obligation to the community. He served on the Kootenai Health Finance Committee, helped form the Hayden Lake Rotary, helped in the formation of the Help Line for youth and was treasurer for St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Hayden for 7 years. In 1982, he was asked to join the board for Stoneridge Home Owners Association, and remained on the board for 16 years, as president for many of those years.

In 1992 Bob married Paula Woods Hoepfer, and together they created a wonderful blended family with Paula's two children, Suzanne and Sheila.

In 1996, Bob joined the Board of Directors for Coldwater Creek, and was Chairman of the Audit Committee for many of those years. Bob and Jim sold their CPA practice in 2006.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents. His survivors are his wife, Paula, brother Jim (Lynne) McCall, his children, Jarrett (Katie) McCall, Marc (Kelli) McCall, Barb (Tom) Moore, Suzi (Darren) Stranahan and Sheila (Adam Darrington) Blanchette. He has 14 amazing grandchildren; Taylor, Kyla, Ali, Tristan, Dawson, Abbi, Gracie, Paige, Mason, Alex, Matthew, Samantha, Hattie and Griffin.

There will be no public service, at Bob's request. A private family service will be held later. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Bob's honor to the United Methodist Church, 1480 W. Hanley Dr., Coeur d'Alene ID 83815.

I certainly have many great memories of Bob, as we camped together every summer when his children were young and he was married to Susie. Many of those memories were made at Priest Lake and Farragut. Bob always had such a quick wit and dry sense of humor. Because I wasn´t working at the time and Susie was, we often took the kids to baseball practice together, which gave us a lot of time to talk. Bob definitely loved his family, and he was very proud of all of his children. I am very thankful that I had the opportunity to know him, and that I and my children have the memories of the fun we had together
