RoJeanne Rust Obituary

RoJeanne Rust, 90

RoJeanne Rust, 90, of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho passed away June 4, 2025 peacefully in her home surrounded by family members. She was born April 16, 1935 to Willis and Frances Coyle of Nampa, Idaho. She attended Nampa schools and graduated in 1953. She then attended University of Idaho where she pledged Alpha Chi Omega sorority. There she met Barry P. Rust of Coeur d' Alene , Idaho. They were married June 11, 1955, and several days after Barry graduated he was commissioned into the United States Marine Corps.

Quantico, VA was Barry's first duty station where he and RoJeanne began 30 years of military life together. RoJeanne was the typical military wife, accompanying her husband wherever possible giving assistance and support when needed. The Rusts had three sons. Being mother to three boys was a full time job, keeping up with their school and sports activities. There was always a project to help with, or a uniform to wash. RoJeanne said those were the best years of her life.

After Barry retired in 1985, they moved back to Idaho, choosing Coeur d' Alene as their next home. With the boys grown and gone, and Barry working in his yard, making it the nicest on the block, RoJeanne looked for things to keep her busy. She joined Kootenai Medical Centers Auxiliary and volunteered for 21 years. She participated in several exercise groups and joined Circle of Friends book club, and as a result many lasting friendships were made. RoJeanne was also an avid sorts fan, cheering for the Dallas Cowboys, UCLA Bruins and the Gonzaga Bulldogs.

She is survived by her sons, Cory of Coeur d' Alene, ID, Michael (Patsy) Phoenix, AZ, Terry (Cindy) Franklin, TN, beloved grandchildren, Mathew, Christopher, Tyler, Alexandria, Mike, Hailey and Kadee, and great grandchildren Noah and Henry, sister in law Henrietta Rust Wolfe, Spokane, WA, and her best friend and sister Marilyn Dutra of Meridian, ID, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

RoJeanne was preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Frances Coyle, and her husband of 59 years Col. Barry P. Rust USMC Ret., grandparents Issac and Jeannie Carson, Robert and Lena Coyle, father and mother in law Henry and Juanita Rust, brother in laws David Wolfe, Spokane, WA, Frank Dutra, Meridian, ID, Bruce Mauser, La Conner, WA and sister in law Sally Rust Mauser of La Conner, WA.

At RoJeanne's request no services were held. Special thanks to Gentiva Hospice and First Light Home Care, as well as English Funeral home.
