Madeline V. Biggs

1938 - 2017

Madeline V. Biggs, 78, of Middletown, DE, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Madeline was born on Oct. 28, 1938 on Knights Island in Earleville, MD. She was the daughter of the late Uhler Haggerty and Ruth Loller Tims.
She attended Cecilton School and graduated from Elkton High School. She met the love of her life, Charles T. Biggs (Charlie) in 1956. Two years later they were married. She and Charlie raised their sons in Middletown, DE. Madeline went back to work at Baker Egg Farms near Middletown. She had also worked in Colonial and Appoquinimink School Districts as a teacher's aide. She loved working with Title I Program and special needs children. After retiring from the school system, she was a hostess at the Middletown Diner where she enjoyed meeting and greeting people. She was also a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. She spread laughter and love wherever she went and will be missed by many. Madeline enjoyed baking, gardening, and antique shopping. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and friends. She especially loved spending time with her only grandson, Travis.
Mrs. Biggs was predeceased by her parents; and her sister, Edie Hoover.
Madeline is survived by her husband, Charlie; two sons, Michael of Middletown and Curtis (Karen) of Galena, MD; one grandson, Travis; three sisters: Jane Drew of Hampton Roads, VA; Irene Conley of Elkton, MD; Faye Steele of Chestertown, MD; as well as her many nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, April 4th from 6-8 p.m. at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, DE. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 5, 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Old Drawyers Cemetery, Middletown, DE.
