Gerald Wayne Jones

1949 - 2018

Gerald Wayne Jones, 69, of Louisa, passed away in his home on July 23, 2018. He was a member of Mineral United Methodist Church.
He started his lengthy career in law enforcement as a dispatcher for the Virginia State Police in 1970. Shortly after working for VSP, he went to work for the Prince William County Police Department for 33 years as one of the original officers. He was one of the founders of the P.W.C. Retired Police Officer Association.
After retirement, he became a member of the Louisa County Public Schools family, working as a security officer for Louisa County High School. He also served throughout the years on various committees for the police department, church, and his homeowners's association.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and George W. Jones; his brother, Wesley Martin Jones; and his first wife, Carol Jones.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Jones; his children, Jenny Foster (husband Carl), Amy Hunter (husband Gary), Courtney Jones (fiancé Luke Grubb), Stephen Schmid (wife Jenn), Crystal Gatton (husband Rick); his brother, John Randolph Jones (wife Betty); his grandchildren, Corey Foster, Megan Foster, Jessica Hunter, Joey Hunter, Chase Gatton, Dakota Gatton and Piper Schmid along with his two furry friends, Gracie and Lucy.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 26 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Woodward Funeral Home in Louisa. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 27 at Woodward Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Stonewall Memorial Gardens in Manassas.
