John Purgason Obituary
Matt was born July 9, 1957, the second child of nine children raised by Herb and Page Purgason. The family resided in Short Pump before moving to Louisa in 1971.
Matt was a mechanic and welder. He enjoyed grilling, hunting, fishing, Nascar and working when he was able. He was especially fond of the family pet, "Priscilla," whom he affectionately called "Pee Wee."
Matt was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his son, Levi Matthew Purgason; his brothers, Herb (Jo Anne), George, Danny (Jody) and J.T. (Christy); his sisters, Patti Harris (Danny), Rosie Dunn and Cassie Bohannon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Matt's wish was to be cremated with no public funeral.
A private graveside service was held at South Anna Baptist Church on Monday, Aug. 15 at 11 a.m.
