Laura Baker Obituary

Laura Mae Woods Baker passed away on January 7, 2016 at Henrico Doctors Hospital surrounded by her family.
Mae was a retired seamstress, avid gardener and homemaker, but most of all a loving mother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter H. Baker Jr.; her son, Walter H. Baker III; grandson, Michael Glynn Butler; granddaughter, Tammy L. Baker; infant granddaughter and great-granddaughter, Samantha.
She was born in Lenoir, North Carolina on March 18, 1920 to the late Robert A. and Neva Church Woods. She moved to Louisa in 1922.
She is survived by her daughters, Becky Cavanaugh (John), Mary Ann Butler (Glynn); her son, James Robert "Punk" Baker (Debra); grandchildren, Lisa C. Peyton, Walter H. Baker IV, James R. Baker Jr., Kim Askew, Eric Baker and Amber Baker; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Blake Peyton, Ashley and Jessica Askew, Grayson and Austin Baker; two great-great grandchildren; her brother, John Woods (Barbara); her sisters, Ethel Dunkum, Hazel Johnson, Dorothy Badgett and Catherine Badgett; and a special friend, Maxine Shiflett.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 11, 2015 at Woodward Funeral Home, Louisa. Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Arrangements were made by Woodward Funeral Home, Louisa.
