Laura Lee Dillon

1936 - 2018

Laura Lee Carter Dillon, 82, of Louisa, died Monday, May 14, 2018. Born on April 2, 1936 in Louisa, she was the daughter of the late Evelyn Carter Buck and Aubrey H. Carter. Laura Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Robert Dillon; four sisters, Irnell Robertson, Nancy Spain, Shirley Cosner, and Ada Freeman; and one brother, Harold Carter.
Laura Lee was employed by Louisa County Public Schools' Nutrition Department for 25 years and retired as cafeteria manager at Trevilians Elementary School.
She was a member of Berea Baptist Church in Louisa and participated in numerous mission projects. She loved her flower and vegetable gardens, quilting, embroidering, and especially being a grandma and great-grandma.
Laura Lee is survived by a daughter, Edyth Kemp, and her husband, Page, of Louisa; two sons, Claude R. Dillon Jr. (Bobby) and his wife, Becky, of Charlottesville, and Keith Dillon and his wife, Kay, of Ashburn; one sister, Patricia Bruce and her husband, George, of Gordonsville; two brothers, Lindsay Carter of Spotsylvania and Charles (Kelly) Carter and his wife, Charlene, of Spotsylvania; nine grandchildren, Jennifer VanBuskirk, Allen Kemp, Lisa Kemp, Justin Dillon, Shelly Martin, Bryce Dillon, Scott Dillon, Jack Dillon, and Sean Ferris; five great-grandchildren, Nathan VanBuskirk, Zachary VanBuskirk, Elania VanBuskirk, Ayla Kemp, and Beau Dillon.
Laura Lee was also very blessed with a very dear friend and caregiver, Dottie Perkins, another friend and caregiver, Sharon Edwards, and the staff of Commonwealth Senior Living and Legacy hospice in Charlottesville. The family is grateful for their devotion to her as she struggled with Alzheimer's in the last years of her life.
Funeral Services were held on Saturday May 19, 2018 at Preddy Funeral Home, Gordonsville. Interment was at Hillcrest Cemetery.
