Finding out today the loss of my friend Jim was shocking, and saddening. Jim's death is a tragic loss as he was a wonderful friend and great attorney.

I miss my friend Jim, or as my family affectionately called him, Jimbo. He always had a big smile ready every time we saw him. He was always genuinely concerned about family members and would always ask "How are the kids." Our kids loved him. He always made them feel special. He made a wonderful impression on the City of Gallup and surrounding area, not only as the Chief Deputy District Attorney for McKinley County, but also as a music lover and as a person who took action for the good of others. Jim took the Chicago song Saturday in the Park to heart and made it come alive when he organized and produced the summertime 'Saturday in the Park' music festival in Gallup two years in a row. His music festival gave many local bands of all music genres a chance to showcase their talents, and gave the people of Gallup and surrounding area a wonderful summer day of music. Jimbo is missed greatly by my family. There is no one who can ever replace him as a wonderful friend and truely nice person. Our condolences and prayers go to his family.

I was very fond of Jim and was shocked and saddened at his passing. His first felony trial was against me, when he was a public defender, I was prosecuting. He was an excellent attorney. I was quite pleased when he joined the DA's office in Gallup. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. I wish I could be there for the service.
