Janet Boone Obituary

Janet Carol Boone, 76 of Julian passed away Saturday July 19, 2025, from a long battle of Breast Cancer. Janet was born on September 9, 1948, the fifth of six children for Carl and Dorothy (Miller) Wyland. On September 9, 1971, she married Aaron Boone, who survives at home. Janet is also survived by daughters Jodie Boone of Milesburg, Jennifer (Todd) Hann, grandsons Brody and Ethan of Philipsburg, sisters Carlene Wiliams, Barbara Myers, Kathie Smead of Bellefonte, Sarah Russell of Tyrone, and many nieces and nephews. Janet is predeceased by both parents, granddaughter Loryn Hann and brother Gilbert.

Janet's family was her entire world. She thought the sun rose and set with her grandsons and boasted of them often. The only thing larger than her will to fight was her ability to love. When she loved you it was with her whole heart, and she would have moved heaven and earth for you.

Janet was a lifelong member of the Milesburg Baptist Church where she served the Lord in a variety of positions. At the age of 7 she performed her first solo for the congregation which sparked her love of music and performances. She sang in both children's and adult choirs for decades. Janet served on the church board as a member, as president, as representative for the Council of Churches for Bellefonte & Vicinity, was involved with Secret Sisters, and Missionary Society. She served as Sunday School Superintendent and teacher for the Julian United Methodist Church and was a member of the Rebekahs in the early 1980s.

She was an active member of her community throughout her life. She enjoyed working in the concession stand for baseball games in her neighborhood. She was an honorary member of the Logan Fire Company for helping with fundraising and working at their carnivals.

Over the years Janet worked at various jobs from waitressing to assembly line production throughout Centre County. Her favorite week of the year was always Grange Fair. She loved being able to visit family and friends to catch up or reminisce.

Her memorial service will be held at the Milesburg Baptist Church, 110 Market Street, Milesburg, Friday, August 1, at 6:30 p.m., with snacks and fellowship to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Janet's memory to Scout Troop 44 of Philipsburg, 305 Keystone Hill Road, Philipsburg.
